About the Village: A parish and village found at the foot of the Chiltern Hills, four miles east of the town of Aylesbury in Bucks (Buckinghamshire), Aston Clinton developed at the junction of Akeman Street and the Icknield Way. The parish has an area of 3,809 acres and is home to a population of three and a half thousand, it was most likely first settled in Saxon times and was recorded in the Domesday Book as Estone (translating as Eastern Estate). The parish church dates from the twelfth century, it had further additions in the 13th and 14th centuries and it was fully remodeled in the 19th century (1867). Aston Clinton has one claim to fame in that it gave half of it's name to the Aston Martin car, following testing and a hill climb competition on the nearby Aston Hill (otherwise it would have been named Bamford Martin). A well-to-do patron of the village, Sir Anthony de Rothschild gave the Anthony Hall to the community, it survives today as one of the village's well known buildings. The Anthony Hall was opened in 1884 and is at present used for different local functions and events.
